Well, my life certainly has changed quite a bit since my last post. I expanded to a double major in Sociology and Political Science and now I'm seeking out new truths in larger society in relation to itself as a political entity and how that in turn affects it sociologically.
I've joined Student Government and left Lyceum in a bid to try for something a bit more intellectually active; with the sound hope that I will be able to put my political thinking to use. SG needs a bit of an image makeover, not necessarily one that will be less professional but one that is more connected and more relative to the common student then before. SG will be in an interesting position as housing starts to form up and I hope to see my way through this era of great change for the school from this unique perspective. I've been assigned as a member of the SAA committee, which will focus on the issue of parking and other research topics. So this will be new, I might try to become a Senator and add a vote to the mix as opposed to a unofficial voice that Fellowship brings.
Next I want to push forward my political beliefs, which I think have drifted more into Social Democratic territory, a political philosophical part the spectrum that is becoming increasingly alienated, ignored and demonized in the United States, in my opinion.
For this reason I look forward to founding a student organization with the objective of being active on campus in presenting alternative economic, political, and philosophical points of view that run alternative to the current Democrat/Republican domination of opinion. Everything from Marx, to Keynes, to Weber.
Anyways, just leaving that here for now, I'm broke right now but I'll make due.
Over and out,
Kent
